Sleep paralysis

SLEEP PARALYSIS OR DEMONIC ATTACK

Overtime, I have believed the myth that sleep paralysis is a form of demonic attack, well I guess most you did too. I know how many times I have prayed fervently to God all those nights of attack, wailing but no one hears, I could see things, shadowy images, scary as hell, with my heart in my hands I would scream and scream and pray. All these with the belief that the witches are at it again, lol. Almost every culture throughout history has had stories of shadowy evil creatures that terrify helpless humans.

A painting by Henry Fuseli called the Nightmare in 1781 depicting sleep paralysis as a demonic visitation

Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which an individual either during, falling asleep or awakening, briefly experiences inability to move, speak, or react. It is sometimes accompanied by frightening hallucinations to which one is unable to react due to paralysis and perceived physical experiences, such as a strong current running through the upper body.

CHANCES OF OCCURENCE

Sleeping in a fixed supine position as pictured above increases the chance of sleep paralysis. The underlying mechanism is believed to result from disrupted Rapid Eye movement( REM) sleep, when there should a general inability to move muscle to prevent the sleeper from acting out their dreams. Unfortunately for me, the supine position is my comfortable sleep position, but I have to take other measures in order to avoid this dreaded sleep paralysis, though it is not spiritually connected, it is physically scary and can cause anxiety,in fact it leaves you anxious for the rest of the point.
